APU/IDLE REDUCTION DEVICE REBATE NOW OPEN!

WHAT IS IT? Up to $2500 rebate on approved APU/idle reduction devices installed on long-haul trucks with sleeper berths

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE REBATE? Any NC resident who owns a sleeper berth truck and installed an approved idle reduction device after January 1, 2009.

WHICH IDLE REDUCTIONS ARE APPROVED FOR REBATES?

All units must be approved by US Environmental Protection Agency or California Air Resource Board. Contact Anne Galamb (full contact information is below) to determine if your unit is approved for the rebate and to temporarily reserve your rebate.

1)    Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) = Rebate amount is $2,500

2)    Fuel Operated Heater (FOH) = Rebate amount is: $1,000 or 50% of unit plus installation, whichever is less.

3)    Battery Operated Air Conditioning (BAC) = Rebate amount is $2,500 or 50% of unit plus installation, whichever is less.

4)    Thermal Storage Systems (TSS) = Rebate amount is: $2,500 or 50% of unit plus installation, whichever is less.

HOW MUCH MONEY IS AVAILABLE? The total amount available is about $270,000.

ARE THERE OTHER RESTRICTIONS? For 2007 and Newer Engines: Only a battery operated APUs, battery operated air conditioners, fuel operated heaters, or thermal storage idle reduction devices are eligible for the rebate.

Electric Vehicle Tax Credits

Electric Vehicles: A federal tax credit is available until 2012 for qualifying plug-in electric vehicles.
