Rowan, Mecklenburg Air Quality Improves but Still Gets ‘F’
Our air is cleaner, but it’s still not clean enough.
Rowan and Mecklenburg County are no longer listed in the top 25 most ozone-polluted counties in the nation, as they have been in recent years, but both still received a grade of “F” in the recently released American Lung Association (ALA) 2012 State of the Air Report.

EPA to Award $20 Million for Diesel Emissions Reduction

Center for Environment Wins N.C. Mobile CARE Award
The Center for the Environment at Catawba College received one of four 2012 N.C. Mobile Clean Air Renewable Energy (CARE) Awards from the N.C. Solar Center/N.C. State University on April 20 at the 9th Annual Sustainable Energy Conference in Raleigh. The Center’s Campaign for Clean Air was the winner in the Policy/Organization Innovation category.
