Assistance Available for Diesel Emissions Reduction

EDITOR’S NOTE: The EPA Clean Diesel News announced this assistance program May 9, 2013.

EPA's National Clean Diesel Campaign (NCDC) is now soliciting proposals for the 2013 National Clean Diesel Funding Assistance Program funded through the Diesel Emissions Reduction (DERA) program.  The total estimated funding for this competitive opportunity is approximately $9 million.  The Request for Proposals (RFP) is posted here and on www.grants.gov.  The NCDC website contains information regarding clean diesel technologies, past awarded projects, and helpful tips.

Little Change in Area Ozone Pollution

Both Rowan and Mecklenburg counties received an “F” for ozone pollution from the American Lung Association (ALA) again this year, but for the second year in a row, neither county is listed in the top 25 most ozone-polluted cities in the nation. Cabarrus has no ozone monitors so it is not ranked.

Cleaire Advanced Emission Controls Ceases Operations

As of Friday, January 18, 2013, Cleaire Advanced Emission Controls, Incorporated (Cleaire)  ceased operations. The California Air Resources Board (ARB) attempted to contact owners of Cleaire products and established a Cleaire information page.

Davie County Schools Receive EPA Rebate Funds for School Buses

The Davie County Board of Education has been selected to receive rebate funds to help defray the cost of replacing two school buses. The Diesel Emissions Reduction Act rebate program will provide the funds, according to the February 6 issue of the EPA Clean Diesel News.
